SYRACUSE – Ruth Helmreich, 92, passed away on Feb. 28, 2026, at Towne House Retirement Community in Fort Wayne.
She was born on Feb. 21, 1934, in Pittsburg, Pa., to Harold and Catherine Engelder Romoser. On June 16, 1956, in Oak Park, Ill., she married Donald C. Helmreich, who preceded her on Aug. 8, 2010. She was a longtime member of the Shepherd by the Lakes Lutheran Church.
Ruth is survived by her children: Ellen Pett, of Essexville, Mich.; Jeff (Rhonda) Helmreich, of Plano, Texas; Jean (John) Emenhiser, Columbia City; Claire (Carl) Fickenscher, Fort Wayne; Kathy (Rich) Tursic, Springfield, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren and two expecting.
Services will be held on Monday, March 23 at 11:30 a.m. at Shepherd by the Lakes Lutheran Church with Pastor Jerry Winegarden officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw. Eastlund Funeral Home is handling services.
