NORTH MANCHESTER -Ruth E. Warner, 94, North Manchester, died at 3 p.m. Nov. 8, 2009, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

She was born Dec. 14, 1914, in Jackson Township, Kosciusko County, to Chester Ray Metzger and Edith Montel. On March 7, 1936, she married Donald B. Warner, who died Aug. 17, 1976.

She was a homemaker, and she and her husband farmed in Whitley County until his death. She was a member of Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren. As a child she attended Maple Grove High School near Silver Lake and the Eel River Church of the Brethren. She graduated from Sidney High School in 1933 and was active in the Ladies Aid of the Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren. She kept busy sewing for her family and made a lot of clothing for relief in other countries, especially Haiti. Her special love was quilting and she made about 60 quilts, most of which were cherished by her family, but many were given to the Mennonite Quilt Auction to raise money for relief.

Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Warner, South Bend; a niece raised as a daughter by the Warner's, Ann Slate, Norwalk, Ohio; three grandchildren: Jeff (and spouse Becky) Brubaker, Silver Lake; Tim (and spouse Sally) Brubaker, Goshen; Susan (and spouse David) Stackhouse, Bourbon; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister and a daughter, Beverly Brubaker.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Pastors David Stackhouse and Erin Huiras officiating. Burial will be in Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, Silver Lake.

Calling is from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
