NORTH MANCHESTER – Ruth E. Bechtold, 90, formerly of Bippus and Urbana, died at 4:30 a.m. Oct. 9, 2012, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born March 2, 1922, in Wabash County, to William and Flora Boyer Gahl. On May 3, 1940, she married Theron M. Bechtold, who died May 25, 2002.
She worked at Delco, Kokomo, for 22 years and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Urbana. She graduated from Urbana High School in 1940.
Surviving are a son, Terry (and spouse Dian) Bechtold, Frankfort; a daughter, Linda (and spouse James) Renz, Urbana; two sisters, Mary Michel Burton, North Manchester, and Leota Sands, Huntington; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Peabody Chapel, North Manchester, officiated by Pastor Randell Webb and the Rev. Sue Babovec. Calling will be after the service.
