SYRACUSE — Ruth Darlene Sindel, 79, Elkhart, passed away at 7:24 p.m. July 22, 2017, at Elkhart Rehab Center, Elkhart.
She was born Feb. 1, 1938, in Syracuse, to Lester O’Dell and Clara Eva Burson Sawyer.
She attended Goshen public schools, was a homemaker and lived most of her life in the Goshen/Elkhart area.
She was baptized in 2014 into St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elkhart.
She is survived by two daughters, Christine Huffman and Norene (Brent Smith) Black, Syracuse; two sons, Fred (Diane) Sawyer, Elkhart, and Brian Stouder, Syracuse; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Fraser, Millersburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 11 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
