Ruby E. Thompson, of Claypool, passed away quietly at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne on her 73rd wedding anniversary, March 10, at the age of 91.
Born in Fulton County, on Oct. 4, 1932, she was the daughter of Carl and Ruth Ault Alderfer. Ruby spent her life embracing each moment with grace and kindness.
Throughout her life, Ruby created countless memories, with one of the most treasured being the annual trip to Sebring, Florida, with her beloved husband, Earl, for 73 years. Her easy-going nature and warm personality endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Ruby had a passion for collecting Longaberger baskets and miniature glass baskets. She also enjoyed playing golf, fishing and walking the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day weekend; she and Earl did this for 20 years. Her true joy in life was farming alongside her husband and driving the John Deere tractors. She drove the tractor until she was 89 years old.
Ruby is survived by her loving husband, Earl Thompson; her daughter, Peggy Bailey; grandchildren: Jeff (Carrie) Bailey, Jason (Karrie) Bailey, Jeremy (Cassie) Bailey, Kyle (Kari) Thompson, Cale (Beth) Thompson, and Shawn (Sharon) O'Dell; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis and Mary; brothers, Howard and Wayne Alderfer; and daughters-in-law, Ladonna Thompson and Betty Thompson. She now joins her parents; sons, Billy J. and Duane E. Thompson; sister, Jessie; and brothers: Clyde, Lloyd, Merle, Earl, Myron, Fred in eternal peace.
Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with the care of Ruby and her family. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15 at the funeral home, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. At 1 p.m., the funeral service will begin. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
