Editor, Times-Union: Manitowoc Foodservice is closing its oven production plant in Fort Wayne, resulting in the loss of 200 jobs. Their new American Ovens division will be headquartered in Cleveland where it will consolidate all oven production. The state of Ohio is not a Right to Work state. Indiana’s Right to Work law was supposed to retain and attract new business. That is a myth. Right to Work is an example of selling a bill of goods to voters while the true intent is to weaken labor organizations. The downward spiral of depressed wages and benefits for all workers has been seen with this legislation in all states with Right to Work. Our middle class, already struggling will experience more pain. Small businesses in our community will also feel the impact of reduced consumer spending. Right to Work “for less” will help accelerate Indiana’s race to the bottom. You can hold local legislators Rebecca Kubacki and Carlin Yoder accountable for sponsoring this law in the November election by voting them out of office!
