MILFORD -ÊFor the fifth year, Royal Crown Limited asked the Milford Town Council to continue the company's tax abatement.

And again, the Milford Town Council approved the abatement.

According to Royal Crown Outdoor Products Division Controller Chip Davenport, the company is seeing more seasonal help than they anticipated. Indiana sales have significantly increased and "Royal Crown's presence is assured here." The company just continues to grow, he said.

The company has had a 16 percent increase in state sales and they are attempting to increase their sales in the south and southwest. They had record sales of $2.8 million in May.

In other business, the town council:

• Approved the Waubee Lake park caretaker's contract.

• Approved the appointment of Keith Hardy to the park advisory board.

• Approved an accounting services agreement and reimbursement resolution with H.J. Umbaugh & Associates for the wastewater treatment plant project.

• Approved an ordinance prohibiting the maintenance and repair of vehicles on public rights of way, except in emergency situations, such as a flat tire, and prohibiting vehicles for sale also on public rights of way. Violators can be fined $50 a day.

• Approved an executive session for 6:30 p.m. Monday to discuss personnel matters.

• Approved a quote from Phend & Brown for an alley paving not to exceed $9,896. The alley is approximately 350 feet from Syracuse Street to Fifth Street between West and Henry streets.

• Heard the hydrants will be flushed June 14.

• Heard the speed limit on Waubee Lake is 10 miles per hour and the speed limit will be posted.

• Tabled the purchase of software for the town's utility billing while the council awaits pricing on hardware to go with the software.
