Rovenstine Sentenced, But Won't Do Jail Time

Posted
Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine was sentenced to one year in jail –  suspended – Tuesday morning on one Level 6 felony count of intimidation.

He will be placed on probation for a year and also must perform 250 hours of community service in a year. His community service may not include his church, any service club he’s a member of, or the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

He also must participate in a victim’s reconciliation program in Elkhart County.

Rovenstine pleaded guilty to a single count of felony intimidation in April.

The charge resulted from a threat Rovenstine reportedly made to Warsaw Police Department officer Paul Heaton when Heaton was investigating inmate Kevin?Bronson at the jail.

With the guilty plea, the sheriff’s office is now vacant. Former Sheriff and now Capt. Rocky Goshert will run the department until the Kosciusko Republican caucus chooses a new sheriff.
