Round Barn Festival Among Akron Area Arts League's Events

On Saturday, during the Round Barn Festival, artists are invited to participate in this first Plein Air Paint-out. Sites have been chosen and maps will be available. There is no registration fee but you are asked to check in starting at 7 a.m. in the large tent located at the south end of Main Street across from the courthouse. Coffee and doughnuts will be available. Bring your own art supplies and go out for a day of painting in the open. Return to the tent at 3 p.m. to display your works and possibly sell them. Refreshments will be available as you socialize with the other painters and the general public. This event is sponsored by the Akron Area Arts League. Summer Art Camps The Akron Area Arts League is offering two art camps for students during the week of June 24-28 in the Akron Community Center. Students who have completed first through fifth grades will attend from 9 a.m. to noon each day and those who have completed sixth through ninth grades will attend from 1 to 4 p.m. A student art show and program will be at 7 p.m. June 28. Call for Artists The Akron Area Arts League is announcing its Annual Member Judged July 4th Exhibit. More than $700 will be awarded. Writer’s Group Meets The writer’s group of the Akron Area Arts League will meet June 13 at the home of Ann Allen, 801 E. Walnut St., Akron. The writing topics for this month are pet stories and a tribute to a deceased person. Anyone with an interest in writing is invited to attend. For more information, call Karen at 574-598-2875. Library Art Exhibit Akron Area Arts League member Bev Cowell is the featured artist for the month of June at the Rochester Library. Cowell works in oils and watercolors and will offer a variety of subjects. Stop by the library during regular hours to view the exhibit.
