Rose Home North – located north of Syracuse in Elkhart County – is using a recent $4,000 grant to help expand its on-going care program.
The money came from the Pfleiderer Charitable Trust, which was established by Esther Pfleiderer to assist with charitable organizations in Kosciusko County.
The drug and alcohol recovery home for women will use the money for drug screens as well as materials for the emerging after-care program that helps provide support to women after graduating from the in-house program, said Beth Morgan, executive director of Rose Home North.
Rose Home North opened in 2006 and is the second facility under the Rose Home name. The other is in Fort Wayne.
The Syracuse facility can accommodate up to 12 women, Morgan said.
The facility relies entirely on donations, she said.
Aside from monetary assistance, the home also is looking for volunteers to help build a new playground area for children.
The house needs help cutting up wood from fallen trees that are on the 17-acre property. Firewood from the trees will be made available free of charge.
Morgan said they are organizing a service day for some of the work.
