SOUTH WHITLEY – Rosalee E. Shepherd, 87, of rural South Whitley, died at 4:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born Aug. 15, 1931, in Wabash County, to Olin and Mabel Biehl Lofland. She married Richard W. Shepherd on Dec. 16, 1951, at Bippus Calvary United Methodist Church, Bippus. He survives.
Rosalee enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning and playing piano. She loved when the entire family could be together for the holidays and enjoyed hosting everyone. As Dick worked in the school systems as a vice principal, principal and teacher, Rosalee was a homemaker. She also worked at Our Sunday Visitor in Huntington for 10 years.
She is survived by sons Gene (Martha) Shepherd, Warsaw, and Chris (Kelly) Shepherd, South Whitley, and daughter Lorene Dotson, Silver Lake; and a sister, Darlene Welty, Carmel.
Rosalee was preceeded in death by a daughter, Ena Elizabeth Shoemaker, who passed away Sept. 27, 2009; two sisters, Ledona Dennison and Norma Jean Sleighter; two grandchildren, Stephen Michael Wolfe, who passed away Dec. 30, 2000, and Kristopher Corridan Shepherd, who passed away Aug. 14, 2013.
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24 at Bippus Calvary United Methodist Church, 7955 N. CR 900W, Huntington, with Pastor Barry Faucett officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, CR 330E and CR 1000N, Servia.
