INDIANAPOLIS – A Kosciusko County student experienced success at the 2011 National History Day in Indiana Contest, which took place at Marian University April 16.
Zack Rooker, Warsaw Community High School, took second place in the category of Senior Individual Documentary with “The Shattered City: Post-War Diplomacy, Cold-War Consequences”.
The top two entries from each junior and senior category (and/or the runner-up if first or second place is unable to attend) are eligible to compete in The Kenneth E. Behring National History Day Contest, which will take place June 12-16 at University of Maryland at College Park near Washington, D.C.
National History Day in Indiana is a year-long program dedicated to enhancing history education in elementary and secondary schools. Students in grades four through 12 explore a historical subject and then use their research to create imaginative exhibits, original performances, media documentaries, websites and papers. The 2011 theme is “Debate & Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences.”
