DENVER, Ind. – Ronald Lee Dillman, 82, of Twelve Mile, passed away at 10:55 a.m. Oct., 4, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Logansport.
Born May 11, 1931, in Cass County, he was the second of four sons of Carl T. and Esther Dewald Dillman. On March 3, 1957, at the Corinth Brethren Church, he married Janet E. Rhinebarger Dillman, his wife of 56 years, who survives.
A lifetime resident of Cass County, he was a 1950 Twelve Mile High School graduate. He served in the Navy Air Force from 1951-1955. He was a Korean War veteran, having served aboard the USS Lake Champlain. He also worked for the Civil Service at Grissom Air Force Base in Bunker Hill.
He worked for Harold Dewald as a carpenter before he began his career in dairy farming. He retired in 2006 after working 48 years on the farm. He was a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau, the American Legion and the Gideons. He was a member of Corinth Brethren Church in Twelve Mile.
An avid sports fan, he enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals, the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Hoosiers. His other hobbies included mushroom hunting and fishing.
Also surviving are five children: Kevin Dillman, Twelve Mile; Debra (and spouse Bryan) Holliman, Logansport; Dawn Pickens, Warsaw; and Dana Dillman and Cynthia (and spouse Keith) McIntosh, all of Nashville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren: Chasity Dillman (and fiancé Michael Johnson), DeKalb, Ill.; Dustin (and spouse Megan) Dillman, Lucerne; Ericka and Alex Dillman, both of Twelve Mile; Matthew Holliman, Logansport; Lindsey (and spouse Matt) Dunithan, Milford; and Kayley, Brandon and Ryan McIntosh, Nashville; four great-grandchildren, always a great joy, brightening their great-grandpa’s days: Brooklyn, Paytyn and Addisyn Dillman, and Aiden Johnson, Champaign, Ill.; three brothers: Marvin Dillman, Twelve Mile; Carl E. (and spouse Shirley) Dillman, Plymouth; and Robert (and spouse Linda) Dillman, Logansport; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were one niece, Tina Marie Dillman, one nephew, Steve Dillman, and one sister-in-law, Harriet V. Dillman.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with the Revs. Mike Thompson and Bruce Russell officiating. Burial will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park, Cass County, with full military rites.
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
