Ronald E. Watson, 79, Sidney, passed away at 9:55 p.m. May 6, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Fort Wayne, to Ronald H. and Thelma White Watson. On Dec. 29, 1956, in Columbia City, he married Mary Albertson, who survives in Sidney.
He was a Sidney resident since 1966. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army as a PFC 8th Infantry from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict.
He retired from the maintenance department of North Manchester Foundry in 1999 after 22 years of service. He was a member of the North Webster American Legion Post #253.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert (and spouse Kimberly) Watson, Claypool, and DeWayne (and spouse Julie) Watson, Sidney; a brother, William Watson, Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Sanburn, and a son, Larry Watson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Burial is in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military honors presented by North Webster American Legion Post #253.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.
