BOURBON - Ronald E. Byrer, 66, a resident of rural Etna Green, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Dec. 22, 2008, in his home after an illness.

He was on Sept. 23, 1942, in Warsaw, to Donald and Elma Ruth Norman Byrer. On Sept. 3, 1966, he married Karen, who survives.

He was a resident of the Etna Green area most all his life. He was a United States veteran, serving in the Army during the Vietnam War. In his spare time he enjoyed "piddling" around, repairing machinery of all kinds.

Also surviving are his children: Randall (and spouse Jackie) Byrer, Etna Green; Christine (and spouse J.R.) Miller, Leesburg; Greg (and spouse Susan) Byrer, Warsaw; and Darrel (and spouse Helena) Byrer, Claypool; 10 grandchildren: his mother, E. Ruth Byrer, Warsaw; and seven sisters: Louise Truex, Etna Green; Ruby (and spouse Steve) Albertson, Pierceton; Betty Russell, Altoona, Fla.; Connie (and spouse Sid) Phillips, Warsaw; Vickie (and spouse Jay) Boggs, Mentone; Doris Byrer, Warsaw; Joyce Rager, Warsaw; four brothers: Jim (and spouse Connie) Byrer, Jimtown; Cecil (and spouse Patty) Byrer, and Phillip (and spouse Sharon) Byrer, all of Warsaw; and Lewis (and spouse Jerri) Byrer, Mentone. He was preceded in death by his father.

In honoring his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. There will be cremation.

Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
