Ronald Dean McConnell, 63, of 1860 n. Brook Blvd., Warsaw, died at 4 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008, in his residence.

He was born Jan. 8, 1945, in Dorothy, W.Va., to Edward Paul and Goldie Mae Shabdue McConnell, who preceded him in death. He married Penny Yates. They were divorced.

He was a draftsman at Magnam Construction and a coal miner in New Mexico. He moved to Warsaw from New Mexico in 2002, due to a transfer for DePuy. He worked at DePuy, New Mexico, in General Dynamics for 10 years, and in the document management division in Warsaw for five years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Legion in Albuquerque, N.M.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald McConnell and Edward Allan, both of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Goldie Dawn McConnell, Denver; three grandchildren; a niece; two nephews; and a sister, JoAnn (and spouse Allan) Huddlestron, Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth.

A graveside service will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque.

Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
