NAPPANEE – Roman L. Kuhns, 75, of 3425 N. Beech Road, Bremen, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 2:26 a.m. June 20, 2012, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. He was a patient for one day.

He was born July 11, 1936, in Kosciusko County, to Levi J. and Elizabeth Hershberger Kuhns. On Feb. 21, 1961, in Arthur, Ill., he married Martha Plank, who died April 9, 2011.

He was a member and minister in the Old Order Amish Church. He was a farmer and owned Kuhn’s Orchard.

Surviving are four sons: Ivan Ray (and spouse Norma) Kuhns and LaMar R. (and spouse Lorene) Kuhns, all of Bremen; Levi Jay (and spouse Mary) Kuhns, Shipshewana; and Homer R. (and spouse Clara) Kuhns, Plymouth; five daughters: Rosetta Kuhns, Bremen; Lorene (and spouse Darrell) Borkholder and Carol (and spouse Paul) Graber, all of Nappanee; Esther (and spouse Devon) Schwartz, Etna Green; and Freida (and spouse Keith) Abbott, Sheridan, Ill.; 42 grandchildren; four brothers: Eli L. (and spouse Amanda) Kuhns, Etna Green; Melvin L. (and spouse Clara) Kuhns, Kingston, Wis.; Alvin L. (and spouse Verna) Kuhns, Shipshewana; and Freeman L. (and spouse Irene) Kuhns, Milford; and three sisters: Malinda Miller, Leesburg; Edna (and spouse Edward) Miller, Etna Green; and Amanda Chupp, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by a grandson, a granddaughter and a sister.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ronnie Miller residence, 1184 Third Road, Bremen, officiated by Bishop Eddie Ray Borkholder and Home Ministry of the Church. Burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.

Calling is after 2 p.m. today and all day Friday at the family residence.
