INDIANAPOLIS – Motorcycles and all things James Dean will be at the center of “Rollin with Dean,” a pop culture festival scheduled for April 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the front lawn of the Indiana State Museum.
The free event of art, music, dance, food and fun is a public program of the museum’s exhibition “Eternal James Dean.”
“This is going to be such an amazing weekend at the museum. In addition to expecting James Dean fans to come out, we are also expecting hundreds of motorcyclists as well. This will be the result of two motorcycle rallies taking place earlier that morning in locations north and south of Indianapolis,” said Katherine Gould, associate curator of Cultural History at the Indiana State Museum.
Activities for the day include:
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – BJ Rogers’ Pineapple Jam Band
1 p.m. – James Dean Look-A-Like Contest
2:30 – 3:30 p.m. – ’50s-inspired Contest
3:30 p.m. – Judging
Other activities include talks by ABATE of Indiana on motorcycle safety.
Food trucks scheduled to be onsite include Pinky the Cupcake Truck from Gigi’s Cupcakes and Edward’s Drive-in, home of the legendary handmade pork tenderloin, hand-dipped onion rings and homemade root beer. Food prices will range from $1 to $7.
Motorcycle rally participants who travel to Indianapolis, collecting James Dean postcards at stops along the way will receive group admission to see the exhibition Eternal James Dean at the museum.
