Now face to face with Jesus, Roger Leon Carter, age 67, began enjoying his newfound freedom at 3:10 p.m. on Sept. 15, 2026.
He was born on Oct. 15, 1958, to Paul and Lois Cokley Carter. He married Barbara Clougher Carter in 1980, and they shared a wonderful 46 years together.
Roger was one of God’s best creations. He reflected God’s image in his creativity and compassion for others. In his earlier years, he devoted his life to providing for his family. Often working two or even three jobs, he always gave his best and expected others to do the same. As he got older, he used his talents in photography and wood burning and finally his diode laser engraver. Many people were recipients of the hobby he thoroughly enjoyed. Roger also enjoyed fishing, especially the few times he was able to take his grandson, Arlo, with him. More than almost anything, Roger will be remembered for his sense of humor. He was quick with a joke and loved to make others laugh. He combined this with his love of Star Trek in his wish to wear a “red shirt” at his funeral.
The most significant relationship Roger had was with Jesus. Though at times tumultuous, in the end he trusted Him completely and looked forward to spending eternity with Him. Roger also had a deep and abiding love for his family. His wife and each of his children and grandchildren meant the world to him.
Roger is survived by his wife, Barbara Carter; his daughter, Debi Carter; two sons, Zachary and Caleb Carter; his sisters: Becky (Steve) Moulder, Cathy Carter and Sally Carter and his younger brother, Kevin Carter. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Arlo and Nevan Carter; and a close friend, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with the care of Roger. Friends and family may gather for a visitation on Saturday, Sept. 19 at First Baptist Church, 2819 Patterson Road, Warsaw, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m.
