FORTH WAYNE — The Fort Wayne Fever has announced the players selected for the 2011/12 Super Y-League Olympic Development Program (ODP) National Camps, which will included Warsaw Community High School senior José Rodriguez.
Each player has been identified as one of the top players in his/her birth year, and among the top two percent of players in the Super Y-League.
The boys camp will be held Feb. 23 to 26 for boys.
Joining Rodriguez in the boys camp will be Max Moyle (Canterbury), Riley Bubb (Bishop Luers), Nick Strack (Bishop Luers), Jacob Fritz (Canterbury), Tyler Secrist (Dekalb) and Chris Anderson (Homestead).
The ODP Program, which brings together top players from across the United States and Canada, is a crucial component of the USL Super Y-League, offering the best players from the U13 to U17 age groups a chance to receive top-quality coaching and the opportunity to be scouted by U.S. National Team and college coaches.
The camps will be held at the world-class facilities of IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., home to the U.S. Soccer U17 Residency Program.
USL National Technical Director Peter Mellor, who has spent the past 18 years as a member of the U.S. National Staff and 25 years as an ODP coach, will direct the camps.
“We were very pleased with the level of representation from the Fort Wayne Fever of both those nominated and selected for this prestigious camp,” Director of Coaching for the Fort Wayne Fever Bobby Poursanidis said. “This national recognition opens the doors to a whole new opportunity for our players, allowing local players to take it to the next level and showcase their soccer capabilities to an advanced national college audience.”
