Staff Report-
The Rodeheaver Series for the Performing Arts will present the Heartland Trombone Quartet in concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, downtown Warsaw. Admission is free and everyone is invited to attend. The Heartland Trombone Quartet is made up of professional trombonists from across the northern half of Indiana. They perform a wide variety of music including arrangements of works by great classical composers, musical compositions originally for trombone quartet, jazz standards and even classic movie themes. The Heartland Trombone Quartet is an entertaining ensemble whose musical enjoyment in performance is evident by the passion and energy they bring to the stage, according to a provided press release. The members of the Heartland Trombone Quartet are: • Andrew Hicks, a native of Louisville, Ky., who studied music in Cincinnati and Cleveland and now plays trombone with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra. • Dr. James Kraft, who has played with the National Symphony Orchestra, New Orleans Philharmonic, United States Navy Band and the Eastern Music Festival. Formerly the assistant dean of the School of Music at Grace College, Kraft is currently trombone instructor at Indiana Wesleyan University. • John Grodrian, an active performer and educator across Indiana. John has presented concerts and master classes throughout the United States for audiences of all ages, and maintains a private studio of low brass students in Valparaiso, where he lives with his wife, Ericka, also a professional musician. • Adam Johnson, currently a member of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed with orchestras including the Indianapolis and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras, and serves as an adjunct professor at Indiana-Purdue University in Fort Wayne, in addition to teaching a large private studio of low brass students. The Rodeheaver Series for the Performing Arts, sponsor of this concert, was established in 1990 to support and foster performing arts and artists in a manner which brings glory to God.
