BREMEN - Blake Robison, Bremen, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
He was presented his Eagle Scout at an awards ceremony and reception held at the Leesburg Lions Club in Leesburg, which was the building that Robison landscaped for his Eagle project.
"I'm very proud to see Blake get this award. I've seen some of the tasks that must be completed in order to achieve it. I would have to say it is very difficult to earn this award and you have to be willing to put forth the effort and time commitment to earn it. This is quite an accomplishment. I hope he continues his education after high school and pursues a career field that he will enjoy," said Chad Berger, Bremen High School agricultural science and business instructor who has known Robison for four years.
Looking back on his Eagle project, Robison noted that one of the most difficult was removing the overgrown 20-year-old shrubs from in front of the building at the Lions.
"They were full-grown bushes and had strong roots. If we didn't have a backhoe, well, I just don't know," said Blake.
New shrubs that were chosen by Blake will provide more color than the old ones and they don't lose their non-edible berries.
"The Eagle Scout award is the highest honor in Scouting and requires not only that a Scout plan a project that will benefit others, but also find organize and direct other Scouts to help as well as acquire the materials needed for the project," said Robison's father, George Roush.
