Roberta Cougill Thomas, 84, of 46 EMS T30 Lane, Leesburg, died at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009, in Grace Village, Winona Lake.

She was born Oct. 6, 1925, in Marion, to Helen and Robert Cougill. On Aug. 21, 1947, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Marion, she married Richard B. Thomas, who survives at Lake Tippecanoe, Leesburg.

She was a Lake Tippecanoe, Leesburg; Sarasota, Fla.; and Marion resident.

She was a homemaker and artist and attended Indiana University, pre-med. She was a member of Grace Village Church, Presbyterian Church of Palms, Sarasota, and Westminster Presbyterian Church, Marion. She was a member of TLCC Women's Golf and Meshingomesia Country Club Women's Golf. She was a member of Research Club, Tri-Kappa, Alpha Omicron Pi and Hostess House, all of Marion. She was a devoted and dedicated mother and wife, an avid reader, accomplished artist and enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was a woman of faith and encouragement.

Also surviving are a sister, Dorothy (and spouse Mike) Chester, Indianapolis; children: Peter (and spouse Donna) Thomas, Rye, Colo.; Lindsay Carey, Bakersfield, Calif.; Kelly (and spouse Ted) Burnworth, Leesburg; Richard "Fritz" Jr., Leesburg; seven grandchildren: Lindsay (and spouse Jarod) Jarbo, Lauren Thomas, Meaghan Carey, Caitlin (and spouse Nick) Blumer, Thomas (and spouse Camerin) Burnworth, Baxter Burnworth and Riley Thomas; and two great-grandchildren, Adena Jarbo and Jack Blumer.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Robert Divine officiating. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Sunday at the funeral chapel.
