Robert “Wes” Orphal, 66, formerly of Warsaw, went to be with the Lord July 27, 2013, in Cape Coral, Fla. He was born Dec. 30, 1946, in Lima, Ohio, to Robert Gene and Marguerite Hunt Orphal, Wapakoneta, Ohio, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 30, 1983, he married Fran Kehr Orphal, who survives in Cape Coral. He retired from Century Link Phone Company, formerly United Telephone, after 41 years of service. He also is a veteran of four years in the U.S. Navy, serving three tours of duty in Vietnam as a Navy Seal. He is a 1964 graduate of St. Joseph High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business from Concordia University. Also surviving are two children, Rodney Orphal, Colorado Springs, Co., and Shelly Raney, Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Sarisa Orphal, Jonathon Raney, and Mikhail Bower; a great-granddaughter, Zayla Orphal; three sisters, Joan Morris, Sally Routt and Barb Geib; five nephews and a niece from Wapakoneta. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Ind. 501, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Daniel Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by Wapakoneta VFW Post 8445.
