Robert Orcutt, 87, of Eldridge, Iowa, and formerly of Warsaw, died at 5:26 a.m. April 25, 2009, in Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, Iowa.
He was born May 3, 1921, in Warsaw, to Charles Wesley and Ethel Bemis Orcutt. On Aug. 30, 1941, in Etna Green, he married Betty Jane Shaw, who died Jan. 22, 2000.
He was co-owner of Reliable Builders, was a Kosciusko County building inspector and delivered vans for Explorer Conversion Van. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, fishing, gardening, working outdoors and building houses. He entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 31, 1943, in Indianapolis, and served as a tank driver in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. Tec 5 Robert M. Orcutt was honorably discharged Jan. 11, 1946, at Camp Atterbury.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry (and spouse Rosemary) Orcutt, Brisbane, Australia, and Lynn (and spouse Joyce) Orcutt, Eldridge; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert F. (and spouse Esther) Orcutt, Warsaw; and two sisters, Genevieve Druckamiller, Largo, Fla., and Betty (and spouse Wayne) Wilson, Alva, Wyo. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Jarvis.
Services will be at 2 p.m. May 9 at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Burial will be in Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green.
