NORTH MANCHESTER – Robert O. Gearhart, 91, Warsaw, and formerly of Silver Lake, died at 6:15 a.m. Aug. 25, 2013, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born May 21, 1922, in North Manchester, to Ralph R. and Edna Brown Gearhart. On Oct. 17, 1943, he married Lois M. Montel, who survives.
He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1940. He was a farmer, raised cattle, and for 31 years was in-plant protection at International Harvester, Fort Wayne. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942-1946. He attended Warsaw Wesleyan Church, and enjoyed spending the winters in Sebring, Fla., for 25 years.
Also surviving are two sons, Thomas L (and spouse Elaine) Gearhart and Robert K. (and spouse Pam) Gearhart, all of Silver Lake; a daughter, Elaine K. (and spouse Dan) Drabenstot, Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren: Jacque (and spouse Al) Kruger, Todd (and spouse Jennifer) Gearhart, Jason (and spouse Jennie) Gearhart, Scott (and spouse Kym) Drabenstot, Kim (and spouse Jim) Zellers, and Shawn Gearhart; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastors Gale Janofski and Andy Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
