ROCHESTER – Robert M. Townsend, 88, of Rochester, died at 6:05 a.m. Feb. 21, 2013, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. He was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Rochester, to Walter D. and Mary Elizabeth Wheadon Townsend. On Feb. 24, 1945, in Rochester, he married Bonnie L. Stretch, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Larry G. (and spouse Sheri) Townsend, Plymouth, and Paul D. (and spouse Melba) Townsend, Roann; four sisters: Mary Catherine Gast; Norma Jean (and spouse Gene) Vedder; Donna Maxine (and spouse Raymond) Overlander; and Carol Ann (and spouse Bob) Bradway, all of Rochester; two brothers, Harold LeRoy (and spouse Georgia) Townsend and Jack Lee (and spouse Wanda) Townsend, all of Rochester; three granddaughters: Amy (and spouse KJ) Blackburn, Robin (and spouse Vincent) Huffman and Julie Hughes; two grandsons, Kris (and spouse Lisa) Fear and Kerry Fear; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with Dr. Mark Spencer officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery with military rites by members of Fulton County Honor Guard and Navy Honor Guard.
