Robert L. Shaw Jr, 90, Nappanee, died at 5:25 a.m. Nov. 21, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa. He was born May 17, 1924, in Deland, Fla., to Robert L. Sr. and Irene Beach Shaw. On Oct. 16, 1945, in Blakly, Ga., he married Frances Kilmer, who survives. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He served in the Pacific Fleet in Guam and Pearl Harbor, and was stationed on the USS Proteus in Tokyo Bay, anchored next to USS Missouri when the surrender was signed. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Bart Shaw officiating. Burial is in Hepton Union Cemetery with military graveside services by the Nappanee American Legion. Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to services Monday. ***** Memorials to Nappanee American Legion.
