NAPPANEE - Robert L. Buss, 70, of 65261 CR 19, Goshen, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 4:56 a.m. Feb. 4, 2009, in Goshen General Hospital.

He was born July 4, 1938, in Nappanee, to George L. Sr. and Treva Shaum Buss. On Sept. 9, 1956, in Nappanee, he married Evelyn Husband, who survives.

A lifetime Nappanee and Goshen area resident, he was a 1956 Nappanee High School graduate. He was a farmer and sold DeKalb Seed Corn. He was a member of Baugo Church of the Brethren, where he served as church superintendent and served on the church board. He was also a member of Elkhart County Agriculture Society and North Central Co-op Board. He was involved in the Circle of Friends Cancer Group and took part in the Elkhart County Relay for Life and was active with the Elkhart County 4-H Fair.

Also surviving are two daughters, Cindy (and spouse Jon) Werbianskyj, Goshen, and Penny (and spouse Denny) Kreager, Columbia City; two sons, Mike Buss, Goshen, and Scott (and spouse Sue) Buss, Wakarusa; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, James (and spouse Sharon) Buss, Nappanee; and a sister, Mary Jane (and spouse Robert) Pontius, Elkhart. He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. David Stackhouse officiating, assisted by the Rev. Arnold Dietz. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery, Nappanee.

Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
