SYRACUSE – Robert L. “Bob” Owen, 75, Elkhart, and formerly of Syracuse, passed away at 3:50 a.m. May 21, 2014, at Kindred Nursing & Rehab-Valley View, Elkhart. He was born May 23, 1938, in Detroit, Mich., to Lawrence and Elsie Faye Chiddester Owen. He grew up in Millersburg and graduated in 1956 from Millersburg High School. He lived most of his life in the Syracuse area before moving to Elkhart, and retired after many years as a banker in Syracuse, Ligonier, Goshen, Shipshewana and Topeka areas. He was a member of the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse, and enjoyed the boat-in worship service on Lake Wawasee. Surviving are a daughter, Renita de la Garza, Muncie; a son, Ryan (and spouse Vicki) Owen, Syracuse; a grandson, Graham (and spouse Justine) de la Garza, Fairfield, Calif.; and a sister, Carol Wallace, Syracuse. He was preceded in death by his parents. No public visitation or services are planned. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S.
