AKRON - Robert "Kevin" McCarty, 45, of 7639 W. Swick Road, Beaver Dam Lake, Claypool, and formerly of Marion, died at 4:43 a.m. April 22, 2008, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born Oct. 30, 1962, in Marion, to Robert W. and Roslyn Carter McCarty, who survive at Beaver Dam Lake.

He was a self-employed artist and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Mission, Kokomo. He attended Cincinnati Art Academy and earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Also surviving are a sister, Tessa (and spouse Chris Smalley), Beaver Dam Lake; two nephews, Robert Mitchell McCarty and Shane Smalley; a niece, Adrienne Smalley; and two godsons, Jeremy South and Brian Matthew Whirledge.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, Topeka, on Ind. 5, south of CR 600S, with Father Phillip Lashbrook officiating. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastors Jacqueline Fuley, Butch Troke and Rob Seewald officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.

Calling is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
