LAFONTAINE - Robert J. Clupper, 79, of Livingston, Texas, and a seasonal resident of Warsaw, died at 4:50 p.m. Jan. 10, 2009, in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born March 9, 1929, in LaFontaine, to Paul and Ruth Clupper.
He was a pilot for United Airlines for 35 years and owned Mentone Airport from 1979 to approximately 1995. He was the United Airlines "Flight Crew Member of the Year" in 1985. He was a graduate of LaFontaine High School and attended Purdue University. He attended Warsaw Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Retired United Airline Pilot Association, along with several other aviation organizations.
Surviving are a son, Martt (and spouse Shelley) Clupper, Warsaw; a daughter, Sally Jo (and spouse Alan) Lopeman, Minden, Nev.; several grandchildren; and two sisters, Carol Patrick, Fountain Valley, Calif., and Nancy Ross, Las Vegas, Nev.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine. Burial will be in LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.
