SYRACUSE – Robert J. “Bob” Rose, 79, of Leesburg, passed away Sept. 16, 2012, in Mason Health & Rehab Center. He was born May 2, 1933, in Cornwall, N.Y., to Charles and Agnes Parker Rose. On Dec. 14, 1974, he married Donna Jean Emmons, who survives. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1950, retiring in 1972 after 22 years of faithful service. At one time he was stationed on the USS Missouri. He later became a contractor for the government and retired from civilian duty in 1987. He was an active member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1342, Syracuse. Also surviving are children, Sherry Ann (and spouse Steve) McCarthy, Michael (and spouse Barbara) Rose, Kenneth Rose and Ellen (and spouse Jeff) Beck; grandchildren: Sean, Kathryn, Karleigh, Mikaela, Connor, Griffin, Mason and Trevin; two stepsons, Michael and Jeffrey Highley; a brother, James Howard Rose; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery, 421 N. Maple Ave., Warsaw.
