COLUMBIA CITY – Robert Harvey Oliver, 94, lifelong resident of Noble County, died at 5:17 a.m. April 14, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was born Sept. 23, 1920, near Albion in Noble County, to Reuben H. and Maude M. McCamment Oliver. In 1965 he married Fanny Louise Piper, who died Sept. 3, 1987. He graduated from Cromwell High School. On Sept. 6, 1944, he was inducted in the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was honorably discharged April 19, 1946. Following his discharge, he went into the building trade for 38 years. After his retirement in 1985, he began making yard ornaments. Surviving are three children, Brenda Smith, Silver Lake; Richard Oliver, Cromwell; and Robert Oliver, Noblesville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Dorothea Oliver, Evelyn Scott, Rolena Collinsworth and Helen Wolf. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Wolf Lake Cemetery, with military honors presented. There will be no calling.
