SYRACUSE – Robert G. “Big Bob” Jones, 64, of Kimmell, formerly of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Lutheran Hospital surrounded by his children and mother.
Bob was born Sept. 13, 1954, in Goshen, to Perry and Litta Hylton Jones. He was a retired service contractor.
Bob was a fun-loving jokester and a friend to all that knew him. He was a teddy bear at heart and generous to a fault; he would give you the shirt off of his back.
He loved any type of hunting, especially deer and mushroom, laughing and telling wild stories, and spending time with family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob leaves behind his mother, Litta Hylton; his son, Robert “Little Bob” Jones; his daughter, Sherrie Jones-Sisca (and her husband, Charlie); four grandchildren: Brittany (and her husband, Ricky), Tully, Blake and Anthony; one great-grandson, Levi; and several nieces and nephews and other dear relatives.
He also leaves behind his beloved dogs Jesus and Daisy and his foul-mouthed bird Outlaw.
He was preceded in death by his father, Perry Jones; sister, Pamela Jones- Poe; and his beloved son, Christopher.
Bob will be forever missed and never forgotten. He was a wonderful father, son, grandpa, uncle and friend. Our love for him will live on in our hearts and memories.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the funeral home, with burial at the Syracuse cemetery immediately following.
