SYRACUSE - Robert G. "Jerry" Johnson, died Oct. 18, 2010, in Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse.
He was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Anna, Ill., to Robert T. and Mary Irene Boyce Johnson. In 1957, he married Donna Ruth Cobb, who survives.
He graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1950, and served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1950-53, stationed at Camp Cook, Calif. He attended Southern Illinois University from 1954-58, graduating with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He was treasurer/comptroller of Kinder Manufacturing Co., Elkhart, for 25 years. In 1984, he purchased Roberts Manufacturing Co., making furniture and seating for the mobile home industry. He obtained his private pilots license in 1972, and enjoyed flying trips with his family for many years. He was an avid golfer, loved to dance and could often be seen walking his dog.
Also surviving are three sons: Robert F. (and spouse Wendy) Johnson, Nappanee; David A. (and spouse R. Lori) Johnson, Sarasota, Fla.; and Scott T. Johnson, Syracuse; four grandchildren, Kyle, Krystalle, Brett and Taryn; a brother, Michael Johnson, Anchorage, Alaska.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home.
