Robert Fredrick Pfeiffer Jr., 93, of Indianapolis, died July 8, 2013. He was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Louisville, Ky., to the late Robert Sr. and Esther Kahnt Pfeiffer. On Dec. 20, 1941, he married Ruth Byrer, who preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge under the leadership of Gen. George Patton. He was a Boy Scout troop leader and earned the distinguished Silver Beaver award for his dedication to Scouting. He was an avid model railroader and he loved to carve animal figures. He also loved golfing. He worked for United Telephone Company for 37 years, retiring in 1982. He was active in the American Legion and served as a commander of Post 49 in Warsaw. Surviving are a son, Fred (and spouse Jan) Pfeiffer; a twin brother, Frank Pfeiffer; a granddaughter, Theresa Reames; and a niece, Sally Woidich; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Lea Reams, and a grandson, Bryan Alan Reames. Private services were held.
