SUN CITY, Ariz. — Robert E. Ring, 97, passed away Jan. 22, 2017, at West Valley Helping Hands Group Home, Peoria, Ariz. He was born May 18, 1919, in Claypool, and proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the 147th Armored Signal Company, the 7th Armored Division Association and the American Legion. On Oct. 10, 1941, he married the love of his life, E. Arlene Griswold. They would remain together for the next 75 years. He spent most of his life making, installing and selling church furniture. He also enjoyed making acrylic things like letter and pen holders, and wheels for holding cards for hand and foot. He is survived by his wife, E. Arlene Ring; his daughter, LeEtta S. Bartlett, Glendale, Ariz.; his son, Thomas A. Ring, Stephen City, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Fran Ring; a granddaughter, Julie Ring; and a grandson, Matthew (wife Hannah) Ring, Tupelo, Miss. He will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. Monday at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Ariz. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at his church, Bellevue Heights Baptist, 9440 W. Hutton Drive, Sun City. Arrangements were entrusted to Sunland Mortuary, Sun City.
