NORTH MANCHESTER – Robert E. Rider, 85, Sidney, died at 3:16 p.m. May 23, 2015, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was born May 20, 1930, in Silver Lake, to John A. and Ruth A. Cole Rider. On Nov. 19, 1960, he married Donnabelle Hudson, who survives. He retired in 1994 from Gatke Corporation, Warsaw, after 36 years. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1948. He was a farmer. He was a charter member of the Sidney Lions Club for many years. He was an avid New York Yankees and I.U. basketball fan, and he loved gardening. Also surviving are a son, Ron R. (and spouse Ann) Rider, Columbia City; three daughters: Rhonda R. (and spouse Tim) Swaidner, Huntington; Rita R. Rider, Sidney; Rachel R. (and spouse Todd) Creamer, Warsaw; a sister, Virginia Linn, Claypool; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
