Robert E. Phend, 82, South Whitley, died at 6 p.m. Nov. 13, 2012, in his residence. He was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Columbia City, to Paul and Marie Wysong Phend. On July 11, 1953, he married Marjorie Johnson, who survives. He retired from International Harvester/Navistar, Fort Wayne. Also surviving are four children: Norma Schweigel, Columbia City; Michael E. (and spouse Sharon) Phend, Pierceton; Rebecca A. Phend and Rose E. Phend, both of South Whitley; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Calling is from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. There are no services planned.
