SYRACUSE - Robert E. Hiney, 53, of Syracuse, died at 11:12 p.m. Nov. 3, 2008, in Goshen General Hospital.
He was born June 10, 1955, in Edna, Ohio, to Robert and Gloria Hiney. On May 25, 1997, he married Marie A. Cramar, who survives.
Moving to this area from Texas eight years ago, he was a teacher and coach at Caldwell and Bremond, Texas, for 15 years. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University and a member of Wawasee Heights Baptist Church, where he started the men's ministry. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Hiney, Texas, and Sarah Thompson, Seattle, Wash.; two sons, Zachary Hiney, College Station, Texas, and Lucas Hiney, Caldwell, Texas; a stepson, Jerry (and spouse Toni) Simon, Nappanee; three grandchildren; and a sister, Beth Ann Kraykovich, Alamogordo, N.M. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
No calling is planned.
