Robert Devon ‘Bob’ Plew

COLUMBIA CITY – Robert Devon “Bob” Plew, age 90, of Pierceton, passed away at 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake.
Born on Sept. 21, 1935, in Warsaw, he was the son of Dale and Frances Rush Plew.
Bob attended Pierceton High School and graduated with the Class of 1953. On April 2, 1960, he married Mary Joan Mettler in Pierceton.
Bob was a truck driver for 30 years and retired from Pierceton Trucking in 1992.
He was a member of Pierceton Masonic Lodge #377, Valley of Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shriner’s of Northeast Indiana, Order of the Eastern Star and Teamster’s Union Local #135.
Bob enjoyed NASCAR or anything racing related and was an avid I.U. basketball fan. He and Joan also owned and operated The Curiosity Shop from 1980-2005.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Plew, of Pierceton; daughter, Jo Ellen (Jerry) Deaton, of Warsaw; grandchildren, Jacob Deaton, of Milford; and Jarrod Deaton, of Larwill; great-grandchildren, Jaxxon Max Maull-Deaton and Ava Deaton; brother, Alfred (Elaine) Plew, of Decatur; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Faris; nephew, Chris Plew; and brothers-in-law, Wayne Phillips and Terry Faris.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
A Masonic service will be held at 1 p.m. with funeral services to immediately follow at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Memorial contributions in memory of Bob may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
