FORT WAYNE – Robert Darrell Dormire, MD, 84, died July 31, 2013, at Harbour Assisted Living, Fort Wayne. He was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Wapakoneta, Ohio, to Arthur and Edna Brading Dormire. His first marriage was to Eloise Anne Hasty, who survives in Tucson, Ariz. His second marriage was to Gladys Marie Busick Osborn on Dec. 12, 1981, in Messiah Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. He was confirmed in 1943 at Evangelical and Reformed Church, Sydney, Ohio. He graduated Sydney High School in 1947, Heidelberg College in 1951, Ohio State University Medical School in 1954 and interned in the Los Angeles County General Hospital. He was a Korean War U.S. Army Veteran. He established a medical practice in Warsaw for 10 years. He graduated from Indiana University Radiology School in 1971, and worked for Fort Wayne Radiology for 27 years, retiring in 1998. He was licensed to practice in Indiana, Ohio and Alabama while holding memberships in all three state medical associations as well as the Allen County Medical Society. He also was a member of Promise Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, and the American Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed horseback riding, reading and woodworking. Also surviving are three sons: Jeffrey (and spouse Lisa) Dormire, Etna Green; Joseph (and spouse Danetta) Dormire, Tucson; and Jay C. (and spouse Julie) Osborn, Woodburn; three daughters: Karen (and spouse Chuck) Candaleria, Camino Island, Wash.; Kristine Levitoff, Taylorsville, Calif.; and Robin (and spouse Ronald) Myers, Woodburn; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Wheeler, Sydney, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Dormire, Davenport, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Dormire, and a brother-in-law, Don Wheeler. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Promise Ministries, 7323 Schwartz Road, Fort Wayne, with Pastor Jenry Graf officiating. Entombment will be in Concordia Gardens Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Calling is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday the church.
