NORTH MANCHESTER - Robert D. Ebey, 94, of Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, died at 9 p.m. Sept. 27, 2009, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Pontiac, Mich., to Enoch J. and Phebe King Ebey. On Aug. 18, 1940, he married Ruth Gardner, who survives.

He was a retired Church of the Brethren pastor, having served churches in Indiana, Michigan and Puerto Ricco. He was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, and was one of the original "Sea Going Cowboys" with the Heifer Project International.

Also surviving are three daughters: Mary Ebey, Greenville, Ohio; Alice (and spouse Douglas) Archer, South Bend; and Esther Ebey (and Wayne Barnard), Hinton, Va.; a sister, Louise Ihrke, Waterford, Mich.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Borgmann officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Thursday at Timbercrest Chapel.

McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
