SYRACUSE – Robert “Bob” Joseph Doherty, 55, of Syracuse, passed away June 13, 2013, in I.U. Health Goshen Hospital. He was born Aug. 27, 1957, in Fort Wayne, to Albert and Marie Park Doherty. On July 26, 1980, he married Sherry Lynn Pfeiffer, who survives. He was a mechanical engineer, having earned his degree from Purdue University. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Syracuse. He was a family man that loved spending time with his wife and kids and grandkids at the lake. Also surviving are two daughters, Anita (and spouse Martin) Dunn and Katy (and spouse Tim) Thirkettle; a son, Joey (and spouse Yei Sol Woo) Doherty; four grandchildren, Joshua Dunn and Eliza Beth, Jessica and Stephanie Thirkettle; his mother, Marie Doherty; three sisters: Karen (and spouse Gary) Parke; Pam (and spouse Dave) DeKonick; and Linda (and spouse Tim) Travis. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Brian Doherty. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Eastlund Funeral Home, 7458 E. CR 1000N, Syracuse, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
