HARTFORD CITY - Robert "Bob" Eugene Crawford, 78, of Hartford City, died at 1 p.m. April 11, 2007, at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
He was born Nov. 1, 1928, to Ora and Mary Lynas Crawford.
On Oct. 26, 1974, in Hartford City, he married Sharon Louise Bailey in a ceremony officiated by the Rev. Robert Neel.
He graduated from Hartford City High School in 1946, and served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 2, 1951, to Dec. 4, 1956, during the Korean War. He retired from Hartford City Moose Lodge Manager Oct. 31, 1994. Bob holds the highest degree in the Moose Lodge "The Pilgrim Degree." He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Hartford City, where he was the past governor of the Hartford City Moose Lodge 225. He was past state vice president for the Moose 9th District. He was a member of the Portland Moose Lodge 417, the AMVETS and the American Legion Post Moyer-Pooler in Hartford City, and a member of the First Christian Church.
Also surviving are four daughters: Mrs. Charles (Cindy Lea) Tharp, Warsaw; Mrs. David (Julie A.) Sprowl, Marion; and Kathy L. (and fiance Vince Brown) Opdycke-Brown and Mrs. Gene (Charlene B.) Henderson, both of Hartford City; three sons: Michael Kreischer, Raymond Tommy Kreischer, and Ronald E. (and wife Kim) Kreischer, all of Hartford City; a sister, Mrs. Ronald (Betty L.) Schneider, Bluffton; three brothers: Bradley K. Crawford, Huntington; and Chuck W. (and wife Mary) Crawford and Ora Junior (and wife Patty) Crawford, both of Hartford City; mother-in-law, Helen L. Bailey, Portland; 16 grandchildren: Melissa Stucko, Robbie Tharp, Chad Gordon, Josh Sprowl, Stephen Sprowl, Brad Kreischer, Kelly Opdycke, Tyler Schache, Candace Kreischer, Kendra Kreischer, Nolan Kreischer, Kristin Kreischer, Courtney Kreischer, Aaron Henderson and Rich Henderson; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Mary E. Crawford; sisters Joan Crawford, Patricia Crawford, and Carolyn Sue Crawford; grandchildren Jeremy Darnell and Amanda Schache; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, with the Rev. Robert Neel from Calvary Christian the Lighthouse Church officiating. A Pilgrim Degree Ceremony will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hartford City Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Moyer-Pooler American Legion Post in Hartford City.
