ROCHESTER – Robert Austin Eiler Sr., 79, Rochester, passed away at 4:58 p.m. May 7, 2015, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was born July 5, 1935, in Kewanna, to Paul Austin and Nina J. Sutton Eiler. He was delivered by his proud father. He was married to Jaqcueline S. Johnson Eiler, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 12, 1992, in Warsaw, he married Kay Marie Hunter Alber, who survives. Growing up he shared his childhood with two sisters. With great pride he graduated from Rochester High School with the Class of 1953 and later attended Purdue University to study agriculture. As a press operator, he worked in the multi–colored printing area of R.R. Donnelley, Warsaw. While living in Alexandria, he was a member of the Mt. Olive Community Church of Muncie. After moving back to Rochester, he was a member of the Church of God. He and his wife shared 22 years of life’s adventures. They looked forward to their annual trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn. From 1998 to 2014, they owned and operated B n K Enterprises that included boarding stables and a rescue for horses. Pleasure riding was enjoyed by both. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kay; six children: Robert A. (and spouse Mary) Eiler and Paul W. (and spouse Holly) Alber, all of Rochester; Rodney A. (and spouse Sherri) Eiler, Gaston; Kathy K. (and spouse Roderick) Pressel, Anderson; Mark E. (and spouse Shelly) Alber, Warsaw; Traci Alber (and fiance Tommy Shepherd), Mentone; 15 grandchildren: Sarah, Austin, Andrew, Jacob Eiler; Suzanne Pressel; Zach, Hannah, Jordan, Cora, Brandt, Dalton, Brody, Riley and Francis Alber; and Travis Keesling; two sisters, Leta Hallett and Elsie (and spouse John) Fuller, all of Alexandria; three sisters-in-law: Lynda (and spouse Ted) McCloughan, Athens; Wanda (and spouse Richard) Wilhelm, Macy; and Patsy Rowe, Monticello; a brother-in-law, Larry (and spouse Jean Ann) Hunter, Syracuse; several nieces and nephews; and Bella “Bratzilla,” a feline domestic short hair tiger cat; Tiki, an 11-pound black and white Toy Rat Terrier; and Miss Fern, a reddish-tan Chihuahua. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Nathan W. Alber; and brother-in-law, Nelson Dean Hunter. A celebration of the life will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester, with Pastor John Phillips officiating. Burial is in Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
