NORTH WEBSTER – Robert A. "Bob" Schmidt, 82, of Leesburg, passed away at 11:16 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at his home.
He was born on April 11, 1937, in Peoria, Ill., to Robert and Marjorie Tobler Schmidt.
He graduated in 1955 from Senn High School in Chicago and from North Western University in Evanston, Ill. He served eight years in the United States Navy Reserves and was married on July 2, 1960, in Chicago to Mary L. Gunder, who survives. He retired from Paragon Medical in Pierceton after 10 years as quality control and formerly worked as the general manager at Lightolier in Elgin, Ill. He lived most of his life in Illinois and moved to the Leesburg area in 1992 from Palatine, Ill.
He was a member of the Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster, American Legion Post 253 in North Webster and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
He is survived by wife, Mary Schmidt, of Leesburg; daughter, Catherine Schmidt, of Warsaw; and five grandchildren, Raymond, Christian, Tyler, Tatum and Talyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Robert F. Schmidt.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd. 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13, & CR 500N, North Webster. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 in the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating. Private burial will take place in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
