A Warsaw man accused in the July 27 armed robbery of a fast food restaurant could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison if a judge accepts the proposed plea agreement.

Perry Peconga, 22, of 1763 W. CR 300S, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Kosciusko Superior Court I to robbery as a Class B felony. Peconga was one of three people arrested in connection with the robbery at Penguin Point on North Detroit Street in Warsaw.

Matthew Strouse, 19, of Warsaw, was sentenced in October for his role in the robbery. He was ordered to serve two years of a four-year prison sentence. A charge of aiding in a robbery remains pending against Katie Joy Hyde, 18, of Leesburg.

Peconga was the gunman in the robbery, during which he and Strouse entered the restaurant shortly after closing time and robbed an employee of the day's receipts. After the robbery, the threesome went on a shopping spree.

Both Peconga and Strouse are former employees of Penguin Point.

According to the plea agreement entered into court records in Peconga's case, any prison sentence more than 12 years will be suspended for probation. Sentencing in the case is set before Judge Duane Huffer at 8:15 a.m. Feb. 5.
