Posted

Accepting a plea agreement submitted last month, Kosciusko Superior Court 1 Judge Duane Huffer sentenced a robber to 12 years in prison.

Perry Peconga, 22, of 1763 W. CR 300S, Warsaw, pleaded guilty to robbery as a Class B felony for his role in a July 27 armed robbery of the Penguin Point restaurant on North Detroit Street. Peconga and a co-defendant in the case, Matthew Strouse, 18, of Warsaw, were former employees of the franchise. Strouse was previously sentenced and charges remain pending against an accomplice, Katie Joy Hyde, 18, of Leesburg.

All three of the suspects were arrested a day after the robbery, during which Peconga displayed a handgun, according to court documents.

The plea agreement entered by Peconga called for a maximum prison term of 12 years, with any additional time to be suspended. He was given a flat 12-year term, ordered to make restitution and to pay a $100 fine and court costs.
